ELECTRICAL TRAINING INFORMATION
NCCT has teamed up with SMUD to offer a 6-week intensive Electrical Training course component. This course is intended to provide students with the ability to understand what electricity is, how it works, and to understand its properties and potential hazards. It will include an overview of the tools, equipment, and materials used by electricians, how to safely use and store them and the importance of advanced training. The course will also provide training and practice on how to replace gas water heaters with electric ones, switch gas stoves to electric stoves, and how to install an electrical vehicle (EV) charger at a residence. In addition, students will learn about SMUD’s 2030 Zero Carbon Plan and what it means for job creation in our region, and guest speakers will be invited to speak on aspects of electrical work and working in the electrical industry.

Participants will also be coached in the soft skills necessary to be successful electricians in the construction industry, including professionalism, work ethic, communication and collaboration and ultimately guided towards a career pathway into job placement within the Electrical Union. This certification course is PAID training. Payment is in 2 parts. Part 1 is dependent upon the following items: Attendance, application submission to and Electrical Based Employer, class completion and certification. Part 2 is proof of employment in the IBEW Electrical Union, an Electrical Position with a local contractor/employer or with any construction trade related employer. This proof can either be a verified check stub or an Employment Verification Letter from the Employer.  If you are not beginning employment with an Electrical based employer following your Electrical training, you will return to your regularly scheduled class and instructor to complete your NCCT Training.

Unless there is an emergency that prevents/excuses you from class, it is very IMPORTANT that you attend training each day for the entirety of the 6-week training course.
