Last week was extremely eventful to say the least! Along with many NCCT students completing their OSHA 40 course this week learning about hazardous materials, we also just wrapped up one of our SMUD 6 week electrical courses. Those that completed the course are preparing for the aptitude test and applying to IBEW!
On Friday the Sierra building trades had their job fair in Elk Grove with over 15 different crafts and union contractors in attendance. The Teamsters completed their OSHA 40 class at the job fair with our students getting into their hazmat suits to complete the final tests. It was great completing the course while putting on a show for the other folks at the job fair. Giving many of our students a wonderful chance to join many of the unions that were there.
We can’t express enough how much of a need there is in the Union constructions trades. With all of these big dollar projects ramping up throughout Northern California, both the need and the opportunity is there. Next week many of our students will be getting their OSHA 10 and flagging certifications and we are looking forward to beginning out next Welding and Electrical Class Sessions.
