March was a very busy and exciting month for NCCT in West Sac 1. NCCT WSAC River City High School students are excited to be hosting and participating in this year’s SRBX shed competition. Last week was extremely eventful to say the least! Along with many NCCT students completing their OSHA 40 course this week learning about hazardous materials, we also just wrapped up one of our SMUD 6 week electrical courses. Those that completed the course are preparing for the aptitude test and applying to IBEW! This week the students completed the OSHA 40 hour HAZWOPER Certification Training at the WUSD campus! We spent 4 days in the classroom and the final dress-out we did at the Construction Trades job fair. We made quite the spectacle today, and students met a lot of contractors and unions. Greetings from Cal Expo, This work year is taking off, and projects are starting to ramp up.  We have students THRIVING in the hands on training, Certifications and Union Job placement. Last week was very eventful for our Placer students! The Gold Country Fairgrounds reached out to NCCT to help remodel the new Daycare location at the fairgrounds. So of course our students were psyched and ready for some hands on training experience! They learned about: -Drywall finish -Understanding different types of textures -Painting -Installing Cabinets -Plumbing (switching out pre traps) -Electrical (Switching our light fixtures) -Finish carpentry (Installing Baseboards) -Installing the new vinyl plank floating floor system -Striping concrete forms

This week in YDF News: All students completed the on-line OSHA-10 course successfully. 10 students scored a perfect 100% on the final exam for certification! We completed all requirements and met all deadlines to move forward for the SRBX shed build competition in May. J. SPARKS and D. HARTLEY completed their 400 HOURS and GRADUATED the NCCT Program.
